Geochemistry
Our research focusses on application-related basics of scientific research in environmental and raw materials analysis. Our goal is to contribute to solving practical problems through a deep mineralogical-geochemical understanding. To comply with our goal, we combine field studies with laboratory experiments and optimize analytical methods. We are currently working on following topics:
- Pollutant underground dynamics (e.g. Arsen, Selenium, heavy metals)
- Relation and transformation of environmental-relevant substances to mineral surfaces
- Water resources in karst areas - exploration, monitoring and assessment of drinkink water supply (Vietnam, Indonesia)
- Reconstruction of paleoclimate and - environmental conditions (sedimentary archives und speleotheme)
- Fluid/mineral-interactions in geothermal systems (Scaling and inhibition, geothermometry)
- Crush-leach analysis of liquid inclusions
- Iodine analysis
- Clumped isotopes of unconventional carbonates
- Isotope-labelling for studying sorption at solid-liquid interfaces
- Trace element transport in fluvial systems
- Geochemical modeling (e.g., speciation and surface complexation)
