Climate change leads to higher temperatures, world-wide. Regarding the urban heat islands, climate change will also intensify this specific effect in densely developed areas. Although strategies for climate adaptation of urban areas are already widely available, still a lack exists in their implantation into communal area development planning to realize such concepts from the start of new urban plannings. Therefore, the intention of this project is to realize such strategies in currently ongoing area development planning initiatives together with the responsible town planning service of Mannheim.
