Together with the company ARCADIS, ENMINSA is developing concepts to optimize the remediation of historical burdens of gasworks. The extraction of contaminated groundwater for cleaning procedures changes the physico-chemical status of this particular water. This can result in various biogeochemical and mineralogical reactions negatively influencing the efficiency of groundwater remediation. Our activities comprise e.g. the investigation of geochemical and mineralogical challenges occurring in the groundwater cleaning facility such as blocking processes in filter columns, the control of infiltration of cleaned groundwater and also hydrodynamical and hydrochemical patterns of groundwater in the aquifer.
