Our PhD candidate Christoforos Zamparas participated in the 24th General Meeting of the International Mineralogical Association, IMA 2026, in Nanjing, Jiangsu province, China, with his contribution “Graphite from the Kropfmühl deposit, Germany: reviewing advantages and disadvantages for lithium intercalation applications”. He received the International Mineralogical Association – Nanjing University student award for applying and coupling petrographic observations, X-ray diffractometry and algebraic crystallography arguments (space group-subgroup relations), as a means to discuss and evaluate the potential of rhombohedral graphite for efficient Li–ion battery utilization. This research is funded from the DiRecReg BMFTR-project within the SynnBatt funding scheme.
