My research interests are situated in the field of isotope geochemistry, applied geosciences and environmental physics. A particular focus is the fundamental understanding of isotope systems (e.g., Weise and Kluge, 2020) and the application of innovative tools for determination of quantitative geosciences information. Examples are carbonate clumped isotopes (Δ47), which can directly provide mineral formation temperatures (Kluge et al., 2015), and fluid inclusion isotopes that allow to study the mineral-forming fluid.

Current projects attempt to better characterize hydrothermal systems (Kalb et al., 2020), assess the scaling potential in geothermal systems (Boch et al., 2016), contribute to the understanding of mineral formation (Quandt et al., 2019; Dietzel et al., 2020) and ore-forming systems (Boch et al., 2018) and help to extract temperature and rainfall information from paleoclimate archives (Zhang et al., 2018; Kluge and Schuh, 2019). Beyond proxy applications, we intend to develop novel analytical approaches such as laser-spectroscopic isotopologue measurements (see Prokhorov et al., 2019a, b).
